Pierced for Our Transgressions

Isaiah 53:5- “But he was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities;

the punishment that brought us peace was on him, and by his wounds we are healed.”

Isaiah 53:5 tells you what Jesus did for you: He willingly went to the cross to be pierced for your transgressions, your wrongdoings. His death on the cross brings you peace because you no longer have to worry about the punishment for your sin. You are forgiven for your sin, healed from its affects, and made righteous by His blood. He was then resurrected from the grave, and in having overcome death He resurrects you from the dead both now (from the deadly blow of sin) and when you ultimately die. In this your heart is changed, and when your heart is changed by the resurrection of Jesus Christ you will be motivated to share this love and story with others. God will touch and change their hearts by your sharing and the work of His Spirit!!

The Gospel of John, 3:16 tells us, “For God so loved the WORLD that He GAVE His one and only Son, that WHOEVER BELIEVES would not perish but have everlasting life.” This is the gospel. This is what you are called to share, that because Christ died and was raised to life, you can have abundant life now, and eternal life when you die. This is why Jesus came, to die and be raised to life so that the provision for you has been made. You are called to know this truth, believe this truth, and share this truth. And when the truth is shared, people WILL SEE JESUS, and you will be overjoyed as followers of Christ. As Easter was celebrated this past Sunday, you should understand that his day brings you upliftedness. It brings you renewed life. It brings you hope. It brings you peace. It reminds you that Jesus has paved the way for you to live a meaningful, purposeful, and fruitful life, no matter what the circumstances are around you. It should remind you that Jesus’ victory is your victory.

Lord, thank you for what You did for me in Your death and resurrection. May I not only believe, but share this wonderful truth with others. Amen.

What does the resurrection bring to you? Why is this important? Why should this motivate you to share it with others? Have a wonderful day.
