Dealing with Change

You have probably heard the adage: “The only constant is change.” This is true, because things change around us all the time. Each day we grow older, and things change. Technology is transforming our world on a daily basis, and things change. People that you love will die, and things change. The only constant is change. Yet, most people do not deal well with change. Having a life coach is very helpful to put change in perspective and learn to live with change.

A coach helps you to reframe your thinking. Instead of thinking about the change and the new reality that is uncomfortable, reframe those thoughts to what opportunities does this change bring. Think about why the change is making you uncomfortable or sad and use this to allow you to focus on what you will do next. When you reframe your thinking you allow yourself to acknowledge your emotions and feeling, but you will have a broader understanding of your life.

When change happens take the time to reflect on the change. You can then begin to see that there is still much that is normal and comfortable. You will be able to rest in what comforts you and makes you feel secure. You can use this reflection time to “count your blessings” and see that there is still so much beauty and good in your life. This will lead you to dwell on that which is satisfying and will lessen the stress and anxiety that often comes with change. So as change is the only constant, let reframing, reflection, and counting your blessings give you comfort.
