Pray Against the Lies

In John 8:44 Jesus talked about Satan being the “father of lies”. Satan wants to hide the truth from you so that you will believe the lie. This started in the Garden of Eden when Satan told Eve, “You will not certainly die…”, speaking about her eating the fruit from the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil. Eve needed to stand on the word of God. Eve needed to trust that God had their best interest at heart. Instead she and Adam believed the lie and at the fruit!

When Jesus was tempted He spoke the word of God, which kept Him from giving in to the temptation and the lie, and in the end Satan left Him. The devil had no power against God’s truth. You cannot resist the devil on your own power. That is why God’s word is so important, to keep the truth clear and powerfully with us and guiding us. You need to know the truth of God by knowing His word, and then praying that word deeply into your life.

When you pray the scriptures it brings to you the truth of God on which you can stand. When you pray the scriptures Satan will have no power over you because you will see clearly what is true and what is a lie. When you pray the scriptures it instructs you on what is good and right and helps you to discern what is from God and what is from Satan. When you know the word of God and then pray it, it brings the truth of God not only into your mind, cutting away the lies, but it also brings the truth of God to your prayers so that you can pray with confidence and power. What are the lies Satan is trying to get you to believe? Pray against them!
